Possibly the best known Greek themed film ever made! Zorba was of course, filmed on Crete and 40 years on we still have visitors who want to visit the location used! On the right we have perhaps one of the most famous TV series ever filmed on Crete, ‘Who Pays the Ferryman’ went to air in 1978 to popular acclaim. Filmed in and around Elounda it has still has a strong fan following in spite of its slightly stilted production and dialogue! For some reason unknown the BBC have never released it on DVD themselves. The release shown here is by a Dutch company, the sound track is in English with Dutch subtitles which can be turned off. NOTE: This is a European standard DVD so you will need a region free player to play it!!!
Another oldie, but none the less fun, Moonspinners stars Hayley Mills and was filmed around Elounda and Agios Nikolaos right at the beginning of the tourist boom.
