And The Great Crete Gay Guesthouse
Villa Ralfa can be described as a guesthouse, lodgings, possibly a hotel, but we like the word homestay!
Villa Ralfa was designed to appeal to the independent LGBT traveller providing an a home from home and economical place for our gay and lesbian friends from around the world! We are not some vast sprawling ‘all-inclusive’ hotel where you are just another anonymous guest! We may be small, but that just means we have more time for you and that you get to know our other guests (sometimes these could be friends of ours and might not be GLBT, but we have them house-trained so there is no need to worry!). Some visitors would call us a guesthouse, some lodgings, but we like the term ‘home stay’ with a difference in that we provide you with some extras like Roger and Gallet soap, complimentary slippers, and a bathrobe on loan if you want it.
In fact you would be hard pushed to find these little comforts in many hotels provided by the package tour companies, especially at the prices we offer!
Add to this the fact that our very comfortable beds are just that little bit longer and a little bit wider than many hotel beds and that we offer free Internet access, book loan, map loan, and nice fluffy towels, and a free weekly BBQ (bring your own drinks), then you get some idea of the Villa Ralfa experience!
We don’t expect you to confine yourself to your room (although you can if you want and no one will disturb you!), so you are welcome to join us in our lounge to watch TV, listen to CD’s, watch DVD’s or just to chat and we encourage you to share your experiences with fellow guests. Breakfast is also served in this room.
Our self contained apartment is a place where you can relax and spread out. With twin beds in an area separated by a half height partition from a living/eating area with a full sized couch that you can stretch out on to watch TV or a DVD, you can really get comfortable!
The apartment also features a usable kitchen area with fridge, kettle, toaster, and a cooker with an oven so if you want to self cater then you can do so with style, and with direct access to the garden you can eat al fresco for every meal.
The newly refitted toilet/shower room has room to move and as our water system features a powerful pump you can be assured of a decent shower to wake you up in the morning!
Guests who like to unpack properly will find that there is more than adequate space for clothes and if you ask us we have a place where you can put your suitcases out of the way during you stay.
The apartment is on the ground floor with only a shallow step at the front door with its own entrance separate from the rest of the house. Central heating is fitted should you be staying during the winter months.
The apartment is serviced on a regular basis and bed linen and towels are provided at no extra cost. Bed linen and towels are changed on a three day basis or more often particularly in exceptionally hot weather.
Our bed and breakfast, homestay, accommodations is located on the top floor and comprises a large bedroom containing a double bed a full 160 x 200 cms in size!
There is a large bathroom with a shower over the bath.
This accommodation shares a common entrance with the rest of the house and access is via four flights of stairs.
A kettle and fridge are provided and guests who do not wish us to provide breakfast are welcome to use our kitchen on the floor below to prepare their own meals. The room contains a TV and DVD player so you can lounge in bed for as long as you want, and there is plentiful drawer and wardrobe space.
There is a large hallway on this floor with writing desk and a selection of books, maps, and guide books.
A large balcony opens out from the hallway and the bedroom, this faces west so you can watch our wonderful Cretan sunsets while sipping a glass of something cool and refreshing as the sun sinks into the sea. There are also views to the mountains.
The room is serviced regularly so you are guaranteed a change of bed linen and towels at least twice a week.
There are also two single rooms on this floor so we can accommodate parties of three or four sharing the common bathroom.
Guests travelling alone are normally accommodated on this floor.
